Theresa Vial, LCSW

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Delaware. I have seven years of experience working with individuals and families throughout all walks of life. Specializing in trauma, parenting, and grief/loss, I guide clients toward healing using a holistic approach that integrates mind and body wellness. Drawing from trauma-focused treatment modalities, mindfulness practices, and brain science, I help individuals build resilience, regain balance, and navigate life’s challenges with greater confidence.

I provide a supportive space for clients as they work through life’s waves. Healing is a journey, and my goal is to help you strengthen your foundation so you can move forward with clarity and purpose.

Outside of my practice, I am a wife and mother to two awesome girls. We moved to Sussex County from New Castle County right before the pandemic, and it was the best decision we could have made. Nothing beats an evening beach stroll—grounding with the sound of the rolling waves and my toes in the sand! My family and close friends mean the world to me, and I find joy in reading, listening to music, and traveling. I believe in being present and making the most of every moment, embracing life with gratitude.

Therapy - What to Expect

In our sessions, we'll explore how your thoughts shape your feelings and actions using ideas rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and how stress and trauma impact brain development, affecting emotional responses. Together, we'll rewire unhelpful patterns while incorporating mindfulness and body movement to support the whole person, reducing stress and promoting balance for lasting change. Sessions with me are a grounding and restorative collaborative journey. Whether you meet with me in-person or virtually, therapy is designed to honor your pace and your experiences, meeting you exactly where you are at.

If you’re looking for different approaches to healing, I’m trained in several evidence-based and body-centered methods:

  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing): Helps reprocess trauma and reduce distress by engaging the brain’s natural healing pathways.

  • TF-CBT (Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy): Combines practical coping skills with trauma processing to support children, teens, and families.

  • NMT (Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics): Uses brain science to guide treatment, focusing on developmental needs and nervous system regulation.

  • Somatic Practices: Connect mind and body, using movement and awareness to release stored tension and restore balance.
