Theresa Vial, LCSW
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in Delaware with seven years of experience supporting individuals and families from all walks of life. My work specializes in trauma, parenting, and grief and loss. Through a holistic approach that integrates mind‑body wellness, trauma‑focused modalities, mindfulness practices, and the latest in brain science, I help clients cultivate resilience, restore balance, and navigate life’s challenges with greater confidence.
I offer an attuned, supportive space where clients feel heard and understood as they move through life’s waves. Healing is a journey, and my goal is to help you strengthen your foundation so you can step forward with clarity, purpose, and renewed strength.
Beyond my practice, I am a wife and mother to two wonderful girls. Our move to Sussex County from New Castle County just before the pandemic was one of the best decisions we’ve made. Evening beach strolls — grounding myself in the rhythm of the waves and the feel of sand beneath my feet — bring me joy and renewal. My family and close friends are my anchor, and I delight in reading, listening to music, and traveling. I believe in being present, embracing gratitude, and making the most of every moment.
Therapy - What to Expect
In our sessions, we'll explore how your thoughts shape your feelings and actions using ideas rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and how stress and trauma impact brain development, affecting emotional responses. Together, we'll rewire unhelpful patterns while incorporating mindfulness and body movement to support the whole person, reducing stress and promoting balance for lasting change. Sessions with me are a grounding and restorative collaborative journey. Whether you meet with me in-person or virtually, therapy is designed to honor your pace and your experiences, meeting you exactly where you are at.
If you’re looking for different approaches to healing, I’m trained in several evidence-based and body-centered methods:
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing): Helps reprocess trauma and reduce distress by engaging the brain’s natural healing pathways.
TF-CBT (Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy): Combines practical coping skills with trauma processing to support children, teens, and families.
NMT (Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics): Uses brain science to guide treatment, focusing on developmental needs and nervous system regulation.
Somatic Practices: Connect mind and body, using movement and awareness to release stored tension and restore balance.
